CENTRAL AIRCRAFT HANGER AT MOFFETT AIRFIELD
Kevin M. Sullivan & Associates, Inc. performed HVAC and hydronic mechanical upgrades for the California Air National Guard Fuel Cell Corrosion Control Hangar at Moffett Federal Airfield. The project involved the installation of a high-capacity aluminum duct system (up to 36" in diameter) and large plenum sections to support heating, ventilation, and air distribution across the hangar and adjacent support areas. Multiple high-efficiency air-handling units and heat recovery ventilation systems were installed to maintain optimal air quality and temperature control in the aircraft maintenance bay. Hydronic mechanical work included low-temperature water (LTW) heating systems, chilled and condenser water piping, and thermal insulation. Two water-cooled centrifugal chillers and two high-efficiency boilers were installed to provide consistent climate control. A BACnet Direct Digital Control (DDC) system was furnished and installed to ensure precise HVAC automation and monitoring. The team also installed high-velocity ceiling fans and exhaust systems to maintain safe working conditions by mitigating hazardous fume accumulation. All HVAC systems, piping, and ductwork were seismically braced in accordance with California codes. Final testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) was performed in compliance with NEBB standards. KMSA coordinated closely with military operations to ensure HVAC integration met the safety and functionality requirements of the hangar’s fuel system and corrosion control processes.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
